NowTV launches new £10 box and improved package Written by Jamie Derrick
Sky's space in the on demand market has taken another new turn with the introduction of a bargain box and a greatly improved service.
NowTV from Sky, who recently introduced day passes for Sky Sports have pulled another trick for their sleeve and launched a 'set-top' box while increasing their offering in one smooth hit.
Paying a non contractual £4.99 a month will get you access to top Sky channels such as Sky Atlantic, Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Arts 1, Discovery, MTV, Comedy Central, Gold, Disney and Fox. However, the £4.99 price tag is only available to those signing up before March 2014 and Sky have given no indication what this price will change to come March.
In addition to this, NowTV are also giving accessing to on demand box sets, which is included in their monthly entertainment pass. Set-top box owners also get catch up apps such as BBC iPlayer along with apps such as Facebook and Spotify.
Sky are really pushing their offering in an attempt to put a leash on new world entertainment providers with the likes of Netflix and Lovefilm snapping at their heels. The real selling point for NowTV is access to the latest content and you don't need a computer or fancy device to get it. Just a tenner and a pay as you go to fit around what you want and you're in business.
